“in blue Akatsuki” is the gallery and studio of Akio Momota.

 

Mr. Momota is a porcelain artist who uses his outstanding pottery skills to create beautiful forms. He skillfully works with a variety of glazes, including blue and white porcelain, to create works that are inspired by nature and challenge the concept of conventional Arita-yaki. Mr. Momota is also skilled in making sake cups and tea utensils and has many fans both in Japan and overseas.

 

The gallery and studio space were designed by Mr. Momota and are stucco buildings surrounded by lush greenery. The gallery has a sense of openness and is a charming and comfortable place to appreciate Mr. Momota’s works in natural light.

 

in blue 暁は、百田暁生氏のギャラリー・工房である。

百田氏は、卓越したろくろ技術から生み出される美しい造形をベースとし、青白磁をはじめとするいくつかの釉薬を匠に操る磁器作家。土や植物など、自然をイメージして生み出されたアート作品は、有田焼の概念を覆す。その他、酒器や茶器も得意としており、国内外にファンが多い。

また、ギャラリー・工房は、緑に囲まれた場所に佇む漆喰作りの建物で、ここも百田氏のデザイン。開放感溢れるギャラリーで、自然光の中で百田氏のアート作品を鑑賞できる魅力的で居心地のいい場所である。

Meeting Place: in blue Akatsuki parking lot

 

1. Orientation

•     – Guided tour of the gallery with the artist, Akio Momota
•     – Hear an explanation of the background of in blue Akatsuki and the works on display in the gallery

 

2. Tour of the in blue Akatsuki studio (non-public area)

•     – Observe the production process in the studio
•     – Listen to an artist’s explanation about the characteristics of the pottery

 

3. Ikebana experience using the artist’s work

•     – Experience Ikebana flower arranging using the artist’s work

 

4. Hospitality by the potter

•     – Experience the artist’s hospitality and Sencha tea
•     – Enjoy drinking tea out of three different types of vessels
•     – Chat with the artist, Akio Momota, while viewing his work

 

5. Gallery tour/purchase souvenirs

•     – After all the experiences, view the works in the gallery
•     – Shop in the gallery (optional)

• 　●３種類の異なる器でお茶を楽しむ
• 　●作家 百田暁生氏の作品を鑑賞しながら作家との会話を楽しむ

 

５. ギャラリーの見学/手土産購入
